The Visit

THE VISIT (a drama in three acts)
by Friedrich Dürrenmatt

Gilmorehill G12 Theatre, Glasgow
19th to 22nd May 2010

Produced by Tony McCaffery

Directed by Jane Dunbar

Friedrich Dürrenmatt’s satirical and experimental black comedy deals with Claire Zachanassian’s revenge against the money worshipping villagers of her native town, Güllen.

Full of grotesque humour, the distressing love-story that unfolds has firm roots in folk lore and is given a light touch whilst dealing with serious issues such as hypocrisy, greed, inhumanity and man’s ability to justify his actions – whatever they may be.

The Gülleners pave their own way to murder!

Jane Dunbar
Director

Jane trained at Queen Margaret College in Edinburgh. Works include "The Woman Who Cooked Her Husband", "The Maids", "Bed Among The Lentils" and "An Audience With The Lizard Lady". The latter she took to the New End Theatre in London as part of the One Act Play Festival in 2009.

In addition to her work as an actress and director, Jane teaches at two special ed. schools in Glasgow and Coatbridge, runs an acting workshop for the University of Strathclyde and is a role-player for medical and vet students. (She does not have to play an animal though in case you were wondering!)

With a colleague, Jane has been devising and rehearsing a puppet play. Having worked on this for five years they look forward to the day it will be ready for their primary school audience!

Through her work as a tutor on the Art of Acting programme at Strathclyde, Jane knows all of the cast members of The Visit as former students. She recently said "..don't know whether this is a good or a bad thing but she would like all to know that she has every faith...". This is Jane's first venture with acting cubed and she has "very much enjoyed the experience - thus far!"
